University of Victoria Special Collections fonds. [1982].

The fonds consists of the raw videotape footage produced by Special Collections. Chris Petter conducted interviews. The interviewees are as follows: Tape 1 -Tom Hudson; Tape 2 - George Woodcock with Howard Gerwing; Tape 3 - Julia Welbourne & George Steggles; Tape 4 - Robin Skelton with Howard Gerwing. These tapes were then edited by Murray Edwards (AVTV) to create a finished tape, which is available in the Film Centre (MAF). [Sir Herbert Read - PR6035 E24Z83].

George Woodcock was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was raised and educated in England where, in the late 1930s, he met many members of London's literary circle including Dylan Thomas, Roy Campbell, Herbert Read and George Orwell. Woodcock returned to Canada in 1949 and joined UBC's Department of English seven years later.
